Thesis Summary

This thesis examines the effect of transformational leadership on organizational commitment and job performance among employees of government hospitals in the Eastern Province. The study used the descriptive-analytical method.

Research Problem

The study seeks to answer the main question: what is the effect of the dimensions of transformational leadership (idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) on organizational commitment and job performance?

Theoretical Framework

Following Bass and Burns, transformational leadership is defined as a leadership style that brings about fundamental change in individuals and organizations through four dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration.

A transformational leader does not just manage; they inspire and transform the vision of the organization and its people toward new horizons.

Methodology

The descriptive-analytical method was applied to a sample of 280 employees in three government hospitals. Three scales were used: the Transformational Leadership scale (Bass and Avolio), the Organizational Commitment scale (Allen and Meyer), and the Job Performance scale (Patterson).

Key Findings

  • Transformational leadership has a statistically significant positive effect on organizational commitment
  • Inspirational motivation is the dimension with the greatest effect on job performance
  • There are no statistically significant differences attributable to gender
